The Longest Day

I have never waited this long to buy something. The most I'll take is 1 day to think about and go get it the next day. Is this what they call deferred gratification. And in hope that I will get a good deal out of it.

This is torturing.. The whole day seems so long.. I just can't sit still..

Actually, I think there isn't much of a difference for a really good deal cos there is that much of stuff they could throw in but anyway, I have already set eyes on you hence I will treat you fairly. Hahahaha..

Yes! Went for photography session at Orchard Road with a friend from the neighboring block.. Haha.. It was fun even thought the lights and decos weren't fantastic. However, there are still some likes for certain places with certain decos.. Here they are:

Moonie Night

Met up with Moon last week for some Korean food, which seems to have long queues, as per those reviews.

We went and no queue. Got a table. The restaurant is very homely and business seems like it's run by 'housewives'. Haha. Not sure about their background. But the food was average. There's room for improvement and there are better Korean cuisines elsewhere. We had a very filling dinner with the soup, re-fillable', and the few dishes and side dishes oh and the never-ending Iced Citron tea.

I'm beginning to like the cucumber kimchi. Guess there's a lot of water in it therefore not so spicy. I personally prefer the food at Han Ka Ram.

Torn!

I'm so torn between these two cameras.

Lumix LX3:
- looks good and performs good enough
- cheaper option between the two (in the market for longer)
- close to a DSLR but mini

Canon G10:
- gives very good quality pictures however on the bulky side
- more expensive
- semi-pro camera which is cool but the looks..

My preference:
- more on the LX3 side cos of the design however it comes with lens cap but so far it is fine with me.
- leaning towards the G10 cos of the ease of use.. Canon, use before, somemore got some better features and this seems to have more stuff to tweak about.

Both has the pros and cons and i'm not sure which to get. Actually the cheaper side sounds really good.. The difference is about $100++. Moreover i'm not some really professional photographer so little details doesn't really affect me or even to let me realise it. Hoho.. Seems quite clear where my decision lies. But please give me any feedback if you know anything about it. Haha.

I shall go to Best Denki tmr to see if could learn further stuff to it. Hoho..

Sitex is coming!!

The Uneasiness Part I

The Uneasiness Part I is over.

The experience was horrible! I was so nervous though I didn’t stop for the first few sections but there was quite draggy for the sight reading and lots of misplayed notes for the improvisation. Really terrible! Well maybe I didn’t prepare well and was not confident too. It was too long ago that I had an exam and this time not only you need to know your stuff, you need to ‘feel’ as well. Tough tough... Maybe I should start taking more exams then I can boost my ‘pre-examination blues’.

Now, how to feel? I was really nervous and felt like I was kind of rushing through to finish the piece. But when I was playing it, I was trying to re-cap what I did in class. It felt emotional ‘to me’ but their remarks were that they couldn’t hear the expressions or the message or the gist of song that I was trying to convey. Hmm..

In general, the stepping into the studio was not as scary (maybe there were only 2 invigilators, so not that scary). But the beginning to touch the keys was the nerve-racking, daunting part, cos once I played the wrong notes, I couldn’t escape from it, so I just played on, mostly trying to do the safe thing- to sight read (BUT my sight reading sucks! Haha) and attempt to improvise.

So, I have another 6 months to brush up on my skills for Part II – D’Uneasiness Continues..

Around the world in 80 Days!

This is going to be a long post.

So it was a last minute decision for this trip but was fun though. The rush of it and hasty planning of places to go so I could sweep the stuff worth buying. Haa.

My first day:
Took a flight to Hong Kong Airport and from there (without going through the usual custom, we took the ferry to Macau (Why Macau? Due to my sudden urge to gamble). Woohoo.. Amazed!

At Macau:
Shocked to see the whole place filled with hotels and casinos! Not really a good thing. But there must be something nice about it - which is the free transportation in Macau. We took the free shuttle bus from the ferry terminal to hotel and from different hotels to other place. Very very convenient. Other than that you just need to walk so we spent our money on food, accommodation and gifts here.

On the way to the hotel: The Venetian

Hotel:
Very very nice suite. For the 3 of us. Don't have to add extra bed.. Enough for 4-5 persons (if don't mind sleeping on the couch). I've got plenty of pictures for this..

Little Golf course

To Da San Ba:
This is where you can get the Almond biscuit and to see the ruins of St Paul's.

Drop off point: Outside Grand Emperor Hotel

Changing guards..

Uphill

Downhill

Here we are! Koi Kee Shop.. Very crowded.. With lots of food tasting

Glimpse of the remaining wall

Take 5! And have a drink/ Liang cha @ 'tai sing kung':

Donago 3 Brothers LARGE Milk tea.. They got 3 chewy stuff in it.. Pearls, pudding and chin chow.. That's why need a LARGE cup. Delicious but think this is from Taiwan.

The Ruins:

Top view..

See my mum sitting down there?

CLock tower

The night scene in Macau: Similar to Las vegas except the streets is not as vibrant.. Maybe in the casino the ambience would be different. Or maybe the night is still early for all those hustle-bustle.

{Side track:
Oh and before i forget.. I was stopped at the casino entrance.. Haha.. The guard asked if I'm 17? I'm so old already! Hohoho.. I feel so much younger the whole day!!}

Day 2+3: Zhuhai
We took the free shuttle bus again to Zhuhai.. Yes i mentioned 'Again' cos we did that in the previous afternoon as Macau got not much attraction. Haa.. Travelling was easy too. So it took us to the border (Gong Bei) and we just walk through immigration custom etc and then down the stairs to the large Gong Bei underground shopping mall in Zhuhai. Fun, Fun, Fun! Bought quite some stuff from there too.. Kiddy stuff for the cousins and niece. Cutie stuff.

As picture above shows, these are some interesting food except the shopping that we had in China. We had dim sum the 1st afternoon there.. They got this carrot 'su' which is quite different (a bit like cha siew su except they use carrot). Next is the osmanthus cake (made of osmanthus tea.. I would have find it very nice and refreshing if i'm not that full already). The 2nd day, we had lunch at Shi Shen seafood restaurant. They serve more of cantonese cuisine and in the photo montage, there's this vegetable dish with cashew nut, fish slice and this bulb.. lotus bulb? The dish glistens but not the oily kind. It was not ge lat too. Then the last night in Zhuhai, we had seafood on board the Chinese junk. They served this salt baked prawn and dessert papaya with 'xue ge'. Very interesting ideas and yummy!

Day 4:
Left Zhuhai to Hong Kong by ferry..
and after 1 hour plus of travelling...

Ta-dah! We finally reached HK and landed ourselves at this outlet with mango + strawberry + jelly ice blend. Healthy dessert. And also this mango 'ondei ondei'. How to go about franchising? We could actually get one into SG? Ii think we had one before, at Bugis (if I'm not wrong), but closed down?

To the hotel, L'Hotel:

Cool display on the TV, they actually got the guest's name on it to welcome you. Cool eh! Then it was some photo taking of the hotel. It's at Tsuen Wan. Far away from the popular places but nice and modern interior of hotel. We witnessed 2 weddings at the hotel.

Oh then during lunch, I had the best Cha Siew ever.. Half fatty half lean. Delicious!! I'm craving for more now.. Then it's off shopping. Went to this recommended shopping place. A mix of city plaza and far east, called "Ugly Centre". I don't know how to pronounce the sctual place.. Argyle Centre or 'Mong Kok zhong sum'. And came to a conclusion: You can find large size shoes around and HK style clothings (Jap, korean, Taiwan styles as well) but maybe not on a Saturday. It was so crowded. I heard that it is also very crowded even on weekdays. But should be worse on weekends.

Later that night, went to attend baby shower celebration..
Cute, attitude boy..

And there is the typical HK style dinners.. Got Mahjong session before food. Haha. I finally experience it after watching those HK dramas.

Day 5:
Going home.
Breakfast at 'Cha Chan Teng'. Ordered B 'chan' and milk tea.

Market with dancing legs and juicy 'cha siew and siew yoke'

Nice and hectic trip. I want to go HK again and explore but firstly.. master Cantonese so i can have conversation and not make-up sentences like this one i learnt: "hmm gyo, pey ngo Ho lok ga peng" which means " one cola with ice please". Haha..
